Alan Rickman passed away today. The unforgettable Sheriff of Nottingham, charismatic Severus Snape from Harry Potter series, Hans Gruber from Die Hard, Metatron from Dogma, even Marvin the Paranoid Android from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy… We’ll miss him.
He had a rare talent of mixing humor with sadness, dignity with pityfulness, wickedness with charm. He had a unique, languid voice which he could fill with a most contemptous sneer.
He was the ideal villain – arch and cunning, and always seeming waay above the various protagonists – better than they could ever dream to be.
He’ll be sorely missed.
Actors are agents of change. A film, a piece of theatre, a piece of music, or a book can make a difference. It can change the world.

Heh, he will be missed, although I blame him for an otherwise unexplainable popularity of Severus Snape…

Hmmm, I actually liked Snape, even in books – but his Snape was the best 🙂 I must admit I like Prince of Thieves too – though the director’s cut spoilt some of it for me…
